Volunteer with Islington’s Pride

We need your help! We can  only do what we do with your help. Got a spare afternoon, or can you spare a few hours to help out with an event? Take a look at the roles below and give us a call or an email if you’re interested in joining our team.

Volunteer with Marlin our Archivist!

The Archive that we are building for the Islington’s Pride plays a huge role in the project. We are collecting materials that document LGBTQ+ history so that we have a record of the communities’ history in our collection. Another reason we are doing this is to learn from the items we collect and share that knowledge with the public.

We’re looking for volunteers to help us use the information in the archive to create a timeline of important LGBTQ+ events, come up with questions for a Pub Quiz, create digital copies of some of the materials collected and do a bit of background research. If you’re interested, please get in touch!

We also need help with other areas of the project such as:

  • research and writing for the blog and articles
  • helping develop and deliver adult events such as film nights and quizzes (including helping write the quizzes!)
  • Scanning and digitising images for the collections
  • helping out at community scanning events
  • developing our social media

Training and Support

We will arrange for training for you during your volunteering so that you get the most out of your experiences. If you’re worried that you don’t have the skills to work on the project, but would still like to be involved then drop us an email islingtonspride@gmail.com
