Vote for a plaque to Derek Jarman in Islington!

As part of our project to get more LGBT heritage acknowledged and collected in the borough, Islington’s Pride is campaigning to get Derek Jarman a plaque. The acclaimed film director was an advocate for gay rights and HIV/AIDS awareness and he lived in Liverpool Road in Islington.

There is some stiff competition, so please vote so that we can celebrate Derek Jarman’s place in Islington’s history. Voting to see who will get a plaque this year has begun and last time over 6,300 people voted for their favourite nomination. Only the top three get a plaque, so get voting!

People can pick up a voting card in any Islington library and Islington Museum or you can vote online through the Islington Life websitePlease forward the link onto anyone you think might be interested. Voting closes on Wednesday 30th November at midnight.
